“Beyond that last blue mountain barred with snow, across that angry sea”
I think we respond to the places where we live and to which we travel in different ways. Many of us need the reassurance of the familiar while others crave excitement. Often we enjoy surprises or the shock of the new. Sometimes we embrace uncertainty - even fear - when we find ourselves challenged by the environment around us. I think it is these feelings and responses that shape our individual views of the world. It is what makes us human - and each of us different. It is this emotional response and the search for connection that I strive to capture through my photographic work - whether an intimate landscape or bustling city street.
It feels as though I have had a camera in my hands for most of my life. My parents gave me my first camera when I was 10 years old and I have happy memories of roaming the hills and woods of the Worcestershire countryside, snapping away at pretty much anything that caught my attention.
In the years since, I have been fortunate to travel through myriad landscapes and to meet so many interesting people . I am equally happy enjoying periods of isolation on board a sailing boat far off-shore or being in remote places where nature still dominates. But much as I relish being far out to sea, or the emptiness of icefields and deserts, I also welcome the crush and bustle of city life.
In short, I am an innately curious observer, sometimes finding beauty and intrigue in the most mundane or downbeat places. This is who I am. This is what I want to share. I hope you will enjoy my work.
